Education and Outreach

Each year, we run a dedicated work experience scheme in collaboration with Ousedale School in Milton Keynes, offering two sixth form students a week-long placement within our group. The entire research group contributes to ensuring a supportive, engaging, and well-rounded experience, reflecting our shared commitment to widening access to science and medical careers.
 

During the placement, students are exposed to a broad range of activities spanning clinical and research environments. This includes attending MS and neuroimmunology outpatient clinics, participating in discussions about medical and scientific careers, and receiving guidance on university applications and pathways into medicine and research. They also have the opportunity to observe and learn basic laboratory and clinical research techniques, gaining insight into how translational neuroscience is conducted in practice.
 

We also arrange hands-on exposure to practical clinical skills, including demonstrations of procedures such as blood testing and even lumbar punctures (using simulation manikins!).

Their commitment helps us provide a high-quality and inspiring experience that aims to encourage the next generation of scientists and clinicians.
